Mingo is a nutritious, low cost food product initially aimed at preventing infant malnutrition and its associated long term developmental consequences. This product forms a crucial role in the nutrition program run by the Negrense Volunteers for Change. Based in the Philippines, the program aims to raise the basic quality of life of the thousands of children born into poverty in the country daily. Over the past few years, Mingo has also been used as a basic relief food source for disaster struck areas.
Mingo’s three primary ingredients are rice, moringa, and mongo: staples in Filipino cooking. The design therefore focuses on the wholesomeness, simplicity, and inherent trust of these well known ingredients. The fourth image is a character mascot for use with other branding if needed, designed to be gender inclusive and have Filipino facial characteristics.
